I didn’t find any file named “PDA.tar” in what I downloaded.

I found odin_n1717_cwm_recovery_b4.tar and I assume I put it in the pda slot in Odin.

I hate assuming things when it involves the phone I love.

Thanks for the video and instruction.
Looks easy and straightforward once I stopped being literal about the file name.
    Thanks.

    How do I tell that’s it’s rooted?
I followed the instructions and it seemed to have gone just fine, but I don’t have Superuser or CWM.
I see a zip file with Superuser in the download, but the video doesn’t cover how to install it.
My animated loading screen didn’t change to ANDROID either.
So I’m not rooted, but no damage done, thank god.

I put odin_n1717_cwm_recovery_b4.tar in the PDA slot.
I set my phone into download mode and hit Start.

It all looked really good said “Passed” in Odin, and it rebooted just fine, but nothing happened that I can tell.

Where is the pda.tar file? I’ve downloaded the file from the “Required files to Download. Downloads Here” link and don’t see it in any of the sub folders or compressed files.

@guoddx  @oakvillenow  @prequelserver  @GuoJun  I got the solution, you must find a complete firmware for your handset. I got the stock firmware for Rogers 4.0.4. Its about 500mb. Use the same program provided. Use Odin 1.85 that you already downloaded. Click on PDA and select the stock firmware. And the phone will be back to life again.

@TomCa1 Why didn’t you read comments below? Its for gingerbread only, and the guy who posted this video refuses to recognize that.

Did the same thing…. installed before reading comments. The pda.tar here DOES NOT work for Galaxy Note 1717 with Android 4.0.4. – Thanks oakvilleow – google search found “stock firmware for Rogers 4.0.4″ and all is back to where it was.

Anyone know where you can get a download that will work on Android 4.0.4?

@TimJT Its annoying why this video is still up. I can see a lot of handsets being screwed. Glad you got it working again.
